美国认为驻利比亚使馆遭袭击是恐怖攻击事件。白宫发言人卡尼(Jay Carney)周四表示,日前在班加西发生的美国使馆遭暴力袭击事件“不言自明”是一起“恐怖袭击”。但卡尼没有进一步解释美方是否认为该袭击事件是预谋犯案。美国国务卿希拉里·克林顿则在同日表示已经成立“责任审查委员会”调查驻班加西美国使馆人员遭杀害事件。上周二(9月11日),位于利比亚第二大城市班加西的美国使馆在夜间遭到攻击,美国大使施蒂文斯(Chris Stevens)以及另外三名外交人员在袭击中丧生。
