Cape Verde: Solar energy changes people's lives in isolated village

On the island of Santiago, a Capeverdean government project provides two neighboring and isolated rural communities with renewable energy free of charge. In total, 15 homes were equipped with photovoltaic kits. Residents are already feeling the impact of the arrival of electricity in their lives. Can this innovation prevent young people from leaving for the cities?

Until recently, these communities had no electricity. Residents never had radio and television around Achada Lagoa and Lagoa. Now, a public solar power generation project provides energy for 15 families. Photovoltaic kits generate power. The residents used to travel for miles to recharge their mobile phones. That is no longer necessary.
