新華社6月30日援引十一屆全國人大常委會第27次會議消息稱，重慶市人大常委會6月26日接受了王立軍辭去第十一屆全國人大代表職務。依照代表法有關規定，王立軍的代表資格終止。2月初進入美國領事館的前重慶公安局長王立軍是薄熙來事件的關鍵人物，也是引發整個事件發酵和曝光的導火索。 《南華早報》曾於5月底發表報導稱，王立軍最早將於近年6月因"叛國罪"在成都接受審判，甚至有可能面臨死刑。
