在古巴治療癌症兩個月後,委內瑞拉總統查韋斯出人意料地重返家鄉。這位左翼政治家當地時間周一(2月18日)早晨在推特上表示,他已「重返祖國,回到了自己所摯愛的人民身旁」。他稱,治療將在委內瑞拉繼續進行,並終將獲勝。上周三,該國副總統馬杜羅(Nicolas Maduro)曾透露,查韋斯還需要繼續接受複雜的治療。馬杜羅今天透露,查韋斯總統將在加拉加斯的一個軍醫院接受治療。查韋斯是去年12月11日前往古巴接受他一年半之內的第四次癌症治療的。外界迄今不知查韋斯總統患何種癌症,而當局全力保密的後果之一是,國際上曾一再出現關於查韋斯總統已死亡的猜測。
