Spanish banking giant Santander on Monday declared that it wants to become Britain's biggest bank, as it began rebranding its British operations with its own name. Chairman Emilio Botin said that the ambitious group 'wants to be the number one bank in the UK' and may buy more assets from struggling rivals. Botin told a London press conference that the Madrid-based banking titan would seize further expansions opportunities 'as they come up'.
