「桑迪」重創美國

經歷了「桑迪」颶風猛烈襲擊的紐約,開始致力於恢復正常秩序。據報導,颶風總共導致約50人喪生。風暴尚未完全過去,羅姆尼便恢復選戰,歐巴馬總統今天前往重災區大西洋城視察災情,也不乏以親民助競選的色彩。

(德國之聲中文網)遭受"桑迪"颶風襲擊的美國東海岸地區,死亡人數不斷增加。媒體報導已經有50人喪生。經濟學家估計損失有可能高達200億美元。許多房屋和街道以及供電線路被毀或者嚴重受損。美國總統歐巴馬本周三訪問受到風暴肆虐的城市大西洋城。

 損失超過200億美元

據CNN電視台報導,如果也計入企業停產導致的損失,此次風災造成的損失將遠遠超過200億美元。
美國交通部稱,僅紐約市用於搶修道路,橋樑和地鐵的緊急援助資金就達100億美元。紐約市的地鐵隧道湧入大量含有鹽分的海水。另外,還有300萬美元的資金計劃用於援助羅得島州災區。

 總統視察重災區

結束選戰"停火狀態"

"桑迪"颶風只讓美國的總統競選出現暫停。共和黨總統候選人米特‧羅姆尼(Mitt Romney )周三就結束選戰的"停火狀態",到佛羅里達州參加幾個競選活動。而总统歐巴馬視察重災區新澤西州,也多少帶有競選色彩。

歐巴馬顯然想以此在選民中樹立起關心國民的慈父形象,同時展現自己勇於處理危機的能力。歐巴馬對新澤西州的訪問,令德國人回想起2002年德國發生百年不遇的特大洪水時,正在參加競選的聯邦總理施羅德穿著防水雨靴,毅然訪問奧得河和易北河洪水災區的情形。人們認為,施羅德此舉或許為他選舉獲勝贏得了關鍵的選票。

歐巴馬和羅姆尼仍在進行激烈角逐。11月6日的選舉結果如何仍難以預測。
