MAX VON OPPENHEIM'IN MUHTEŞEM KEŞFİ
Bankacı bir ailenin çocuğu olan baron Max von Oppenheim, aile mesleğinin aksine doğu kültürüne ilgi duydu. Sanat eserleri toplarken, tesadüfen antik bir saray keşfetti.
Arkeolojik Milad
Baron Max von Oppenheim (1860-1946), doğu kültürüne merakı neticesinde Tel Halaf kentindeki M.Ö. 1. yüzyıldan kalma Arami Prensi'nin sarayına ait antik eserleri gün ışığına çıkarmıştı. Suriye'nin Türkiye sınırına yakın bölgesinde bulunan bu eserler, şu sıralar Bonn'da ziyaretçilerini büyülüyor.
Şark tutkununun koleksiyonu
Almanya'nın Bonn kentindeki "Şark serüveni: Max von Oppenheim ve Tel Halaf'ın keşfi" adlı sergide antik çağdan kalma heykel, taş rölyef, mezar ganimetleri, şark kıyafetleri ve ev gereçleri gibi 500'den fazla parça sergileniyor. Oppenheim bunları Şark'taki araştırma gezileri sırasında buldu. Sergi 10 Ağustos'a kadar gezilebilir.
Ataşelikten arkeologluğa
Max von Oppenheim, Almanya'nın Köln kentinde bankacı bir ailenin çocuğu olarak dünyaya geldi. Hukuk eğitiminin ardından Lübnan, Suriye, Mısır ve Türkiye gibi ülkeleri dolaştı. Seyahatlerini ailesi finanse ediyordu. Oppenheim, 1896 - 1909 yılları arasında Kahire'de Alman Başkonsolosluğu ataşesi olarak görev yaptı.
Yeni dostluklar
Oppenheim Kahire'de Arapça öğrendi. Bir çok Avrupalının aksine, bedevilerin çöllerdeki mütevazı evlerine konuk olup, onlarla yakınlaştı. Sömürgeci yönetimden kurtulmak için tek çatı altında birleşmek isteyen İslam topluluklarıyla yakın ilişkiler kurdu. Bu nedenle sömürgeci İngiliz yönetimi Oppenheim'a şüpheyle yaklaşmaya başladı.
Yerel halktan ipucu
Bedeviler, Oppenheim'a bazı ürkütücü taşlar bulduklarını ve onları tekrar gömdüklerini söylediler. Ardından Oppenheim'ı M.Ö. 1. yüzyılda Arami prensinin ikameti olan kalıntıların bulunduğu yere götürdüler. Oppenheim, bu muhteşem keşfi fotoğrafçılar eşliğinde detaylı şekilde belgeledi.
İki yıllık kazı
Oppenheim 1911 yılında iki yıl sürecek arkeolojik kazılara başladı. Çeşitli bölgelerden 500 yerli, ona yardımcı oldu. Sonunda, sarayın batı kanadı günışığına çıktı. Hayvan ve insan figürleri, kabartmalar, taştan heykeller büyüleyiciydi. Kuzey doğu kanadında ise şehrin duvarları, geçitler, mezarlıklar ve ibadet odası ortaya çıktı.
Kültür mirası ihracatı
Kazılarda keşfedilen tarihi eserlerin bazen yasal, bazen de gizli yollarla ulusal müzelere ihracı, 20. yüzyıl başlarında iyice yaygınlaştı. 18. ya da 19. yüzyıla ait olan, fotoğraftaki Türk hamamı takunyaları gibi ilginç tarihi objelerden oluşan koleksiyonlar, o ulusun gücüne ve bir 'kültür ülkesi' olarak algılanma isteğine işaret eder hale gelmişti.
Gizli hazineler
Oppenheim tarihi eserlerin Alman İmparatorluğu'na ihracına etik olarak yanaşmadığından, keşfettiği parçaların pek çoğu Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nda kaldı. Bununla birlikte, Oppenheim Kahire'deki villasında sakladığı kimi figür ve duvar resimlerini beraberinde evine getirdi.
2. Dünya Savaşı tahribatı
1. Dünya Savaşı sırasında Oppenheim, İstanbul'daki Alman elçiliğinde propaganda işlerinden sorumluydu. Savaşın ardından da Şarkiyat Araştırma Enstitüsü'nü kurdu. 1930 yılında Berlin'de kurduğu Tel Halaf Müzesi, 2. Dünya Savaşı sırasında bombardımana maruz kaldı. Berlin'deki müzeden geriye sadece bodrum katında muhafaza edilen parçalar kaldı.
Şüpheli rekonstrüksiyon
2. Dünya Savaşı sonrasında hayatını kaybeden Oppenheim'ın, Batı Sarayı kalıntılarına dair özgün fikirleri vardı. Fakat ilginç şekilde, hazırladığı taslaklardaki ölçüler, kalıntıların ebat ve şekilleriyle uyuşmadı. Bu taslaklar halen, Halep kentinde bulunan Suriye Ulusal Müzesi'nde model olarak kullanılmakta.
Ayrıntılı restorasyon
Ayrıntılı restorasyon 9 yıl süren Tel Halaf kenti kalıntılarının restorasyonu Alman Araştırma Birliği ve Sal Oppenheim bankasının vakfı tarafından finanse edildi. Bonn'daki Devlet Sanat Müzesi'nde sarayın batı kanadındaki orjinal büyük kapının parçaları, bütünü içeren bir video eşliğinde ilk kez sergileniyor. © Deutsche Welle Türkçe
