İpek böceğinin yolculuğu
Bir zamanlar ipek, altından da pahalıydı. Bugün birçok kişi hayvan hakları nedeniyle ipek ürünler kullanmayı reddediyor. İşte ipek böceğinin dut ağacından tekstil fabrikalarına uzanan yolculuğu.
Doyasıya beslenmek serbest
İpek böcekleri dut yaprakları yiyerek beslenir. Tırtıllar yeterince büyüdüğünde kendi etrafına koza örerler. Ağzındaki özel bezlerle iplik halinde bir sıvı çıkararak 300 bine kadar dönüş yapabilirler. Aslında kendi haline bırakılırsa birkaç hafta içinde kelebek olurlar. Ama genelde bu gerçekleşmeden kozalar sıcak suya atılır.
Dut yaprağı hasadı
Myanmar’daki azınlık bir halk olan Palaunglar, Wanpaolong kenti yakınlarındaki bir ipek çiftliğinde çalışıyor. İpek üretimi için dut yaprakları topluyorlar. Süreç gece kelebeğinin 800 kadar yumurta bırakmasıyla başlıyor. On gün sonra yumurtadan çıkan 2-3 milimetre uzunluğundaki siyah tüylü tırtıllar daha sonra kozalar örüyorlar.
İplik olma yolunda
Beş koza, ipek üretimi için bir hiç ifade ediyor. Dünyada, 2016’da yaklaşık 193 bin ton ipek üretildi. Hayvanları koruma örgütü PETA bunun için 2 trilyon 800 milyar tırtılın öldürüldüğünden yola çıkıyor.
Kozalar ve çocuk işçilik
Kaynatıldıktan sonra, sekiz kadar kozadan bir iplik elde ediliyor. Bu iplikten de, pürüzsüz bir tekstil kumaşı ortaya çıkıyor. 250 gram ipek elde etmek için 3 bin kadar koza gerekiyor. Myanmar’daki çiftliklerde çocuklara da rastlanıyor.
Obur ipekböceği
Bir ipekböceği, büyük efor sarfeder. Dolaysıyla büyük enerji gereksinimi duyar. Yumurtadan çıkıp koza haline gelene kadar ağırlığının 40 bin katı kadar dut yaprağı yer.
Kamyonla dünyaya açılan yolculuk
Wanpaolong’daki ipek çiftliğinden toplanan ipekler yola çıkıyor. Son kullanıcıya ulaşana kadar fiyat katlanıyor. Bir kilo işlenmemiş ham ipeğin fiyatı yüz eurodan fazla tutuyor. Birçok hammadde gibi onun da fiyatında dalgalanmalar oluyor. İpek artık eskisi kadar popüler bir ürün değil. Bugün birçok kişi hayvan hakları nedeniyle ipek ürünler kullanmayı reddediyor.
