Batalyon Pakistan yang Tertimbun Salju Masih Dicari

Panglima militer Pakistan pimpin pencarian lebih dari 130 tentara dan pegawai sipil, yang hilang pasca kecelakaan longsor salju Sabtu (07/04).

Satu hari setelah bencana longsor salju di utara Pakistan, pencarian sekitar 130 tentara dan warga sipil yang tertimbun salju masih belum memberikan hasil. „Kami berupaya keras, tapi selama ini kami belum menemukan satu orang pun.“ Demikian dikatakan seorang perwira yang tidak ingin disebukan namanya pada hari Minggu (08/04) kepada kantor berita DPA. Petugas bantuan melanjutkan pencarian pada ketinggian 4500 meter.

Siachen Gletsyer terletak pada ketinggian lebih dari 6000 meter di antara kawasan Kashmir, yang dipersengketakan antara India dan Pakistan. 1984 terjadi pertempuran hebat memperebutkan Siachen Gletsyer dan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan penugasan ribuan tentara di kawasan pegunungan tersebut.
