In southeastern Nigeria, Christmas temperatures average about 30 degrees Celsius, making it the perfect time for a big, outdoor party. In Calabar, Christmas is celebrated with a festival lasting through to the New Year. Music concerts, boat regattas, fashion shows and a film festival are all part. The high point, though, is the Calabar carnival.
