World in Progress: Struggling to breathe

Around seven million deaths per year around the world are linked to air pollution. Over 90 percent of people live in areas where air quality exceeds WHO guideline limits. Particularly amid the pandemic, air pollution can be a deadly force as it further weakens our immune systems. One of the cities that's notorious for its traffic jams and bad air is Indonesia’s capital Jakarta.
