Indonesia's 1965 massacre

Udo Schmidt/Anke RasperNovember 4, 2015

In 1965, about 500,000 people were killed in Indonesia. The army, paramilitary groups and religious organizations hunted down members of the Indonesian Communist party and suspected leftist sympathizers who they blamed for the deaths of six army generals - something which they took to be an attempted communist coup. The 1965 massacre is still a sensitive issue in Indonesia as Udo Schmidt reports.
