World in Progress: South Korea's office culture

After-hours office parties are a crucial part of South Korea's business culture. Typically, a boss takes his staff out on the company's dime for dinner, drinks and some karaoke. Heavy drinking is encouraged if not expected. The nights out are meant to build team spirit, but it's something many employees dread. Particularly female employees, who have reported sexual harassment during these nights.
