Women of Iraq

Ten years ago this week, the Iraq War began with the country's invasion. Soon after, allies started talking about 'new rights and new hopes' for Iraqi women. In reality, however, the situation got worse and rapes, burnings and murders were a regular occurrence by 2007. The downward spiral provoked a new wave of women's rights activism across the country.
