Tunisia: Image Problem

In Tunisia, hotels are still empty. Tourists are still staying away, largely due to the unrest in neighboring Libya. Now Tunisia has launched a campaign to improve the country's image and lower prices in the hopes that the tourists will return.

Since Tunisia's Jasmine Revolution in January, the number of vacationers visiting the country has fallen by half. That has presented Tunisia with a major crisis: tourism is a crucial source of income and thousands of jobs are at risk. The country also doesn't have enough money to fund all the social reforms promised in the revolution. Still, European tourists are starting to return, especially because of the ultra-low travel prices. We tag along on the ride.
