Concern about the very evident effects of global warming is prompting a race for solutions, and among the most hyped is biofuel. Proponents say diesel made from corn, grain, wood waste and/or palm oil could drastically reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Agricultural economies are rushing to plant these crops, enticed by the prospect of higher export earnings than they would get from foodstuffs.
