Moving on to Tibet now, where a deadline for protesters to turn themselves in has expired. The situation in the capital Lhasa remains difficult to ascertain since foreign media are barred from going there. But reports said the city was calm on Monday. Chinese authorities have rejected calls for international observers to go to Tibet. ++SYN-MAZ+++
