The murder of Marwa el-Sherbini - Friends and family members in Egypt are demanding justice to be done

Constanze TressOctober 26, 2009

Marwa el-Sherbini has become known as the "headscarf-martyr" in many Muslim countries. Her killing sparked protests around the world - the most intense were held in her home country, Egypt -- and in Iran. Here in Germany, authorities have decided to erect a memorial to el-Sherbini in the courthouse. There's also been some discussion about whether to name a street or perhaps a school in Dresden after the murdered woman. But critics say this is all too little too late. Had it been a German woman stabbed by a Muslim man, they say, the reaction would have been very different.
