The earthquake that struck the Indonesian Island of Java on Saturday morning measured 6.2 on the Richter scale and killed at least 4,900 people.

However, Aid workers who were in the area at the time were expecting an eruption of the Volcano Mount Merapi and not an earthquake. The volcano has shown increased activity over the past few weeks.
