Tdt:Earthquakes that have hit Asia in recent years´- je 13.05.2008 10 UTC

Kay HagedornMay 13, 2008

The earthquake in Sichuan is the latest in a series of seismic events to shake Asia. Small tremors are a regular occurence, though few reach the magnitude of Monday's quake. The reason why the earth moves is simple: a massive fault line runs across the continent all the way to the eastern Mediterranean. In addition to that, countless smaller plates and faultlines cause regular earthquakes when the lines rip and the tectonic plates shift. We take a look back now at some of the major earthquakes that have hit Asia in recent years.
