Supermarket Puts the "Men" into Menial

DW staff (jp)February 24, 2005

Spring-cleaning is no one's idea of fun. But it's set to get a lot more exciting, thanks to a special offer available at a German supermarket chain.

Anyone with a Rewe supermarket chain loyalty card can enter the "Cleaning Men 2005" competition -- and they probably will.

Up for grabs are ten personal cleaners -- muscular Mister Mops who'll come round to do all your dirty work while you put your feet up.

The offer, which runs from Feb 28 - March 5, is available in Rewe stores across the country. All you need to do is scan your loyalty card at tills or info-points. The winners will be contacted by mail, four weeks after the closing date.

Wanted: able-bodied Adonis

Your very own hunky houseboy will then show up by appointment -- even at the weekend -- on your doorstep, ready and willing to help out wherever he's needed.

While he completes up to five hours of those tedious medial tasks you've been putting off all year, you can sit back and relax as he mans the hoover, dusts under the bed and stacks the dishwasher.

The prize is also transferable. So if, for some strange reason, you don't actually need a strapping manservant ready to cater to your every domestic whim, you can pass him on to your best friend, your mother, or even your boss.

And if you're such a hopeless case you don't even own a dustpan and brush, never fear -- your new home-help even comes with his own cleaning materials.
