This year marks the 40th anniversary of the death of Francisco Franco, the right-wing dictator who ruled Spain after winning its civil war in 1939 until his death in 1975. Spain is now a modern democracy but many feel there are still too many reminders of the Franco years which glorify the dictator. Guy Hedgecoe visited the largest and most notorious symbol of Francoism.
