Ship bound for Zimbabwe may return home - je 22.04.2008 18

The United States said on Tuesday it had discouraged China to send arms to Zimbabwe. A State department spokesman said the US had asked Zimbabwe's neighbours not to allow a ship carrying Chinese weapons for the country to dock. South African port workers had earlier refused to unload it and two other Southern African countries denied the ship access to their ports. They fear the arms could escalate post-election tensions in Zimbabwe.
