Sanctions Against Myanmar Toughened

Japan, one of Myanmar's main donors, has cancelled aid of over 4 million US dollars to the junta in response to the fatal shooting of a Japanese journalist last month. On Monday, the EU passed a new set of sanctions against the junta, which includes an embargo on the export of wood, gems and metals.
