Tension has been building in parts of Israel and the West Bank following clashes over access to a site revered by Jews and Muslims alike. The situation caused US Secretary of State John Kerry to hold an emergency meeting with Palestinian, Israeli and Jordanian leaders, in an effort to bring some measure of calm. Jerusalem-based correspondent Irris Makkler spoke to DW about the mood in the city.
