My favorite cake is Mohnkuchen [poppy-seed cake -- eds.]. I can't get it in England, so it's the first thing I look for when I go to Germany. -- Jane, Great Britain

I just loved the cakes. They really made my mouth water. Here in Australia we can purchase some of these cakes from genuine German confectioners, but I was so interested to see such a selection apart from German "Bee Sting" and Black Forest cake, which are probably the two best known German cakes here. You really got my sweet tooth craving for a fruit flan. I'm off to the Barossa Valley right now to track one down. -- Jenny Green, Australia

My favorite cake is Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. Ummh! -- Shirley Bossbach, US

My favorite kind of cake is Apfelkuchen and Black Forest torte. Also, there is a Christmas cake that I love: Stollen. -- Rocio Garcia, Mexico

Queen Mother's (Victoria) Torte is my favorite. Crushed almonds, flour-free, and plenty of tasty dark chocolate inside and outside. -- John McShane, US

Black Forest cake, Yum! -- Michael Leib, US

My favorite German style cake is Apfelkuchen. My wife likes the berry cheese cake made with quark. -- Douglas Berg, US

The photos of the cakes on your Web site are mouthwatering and brought back happy memories of a trip to Germany in 2004. Our favorite was the Herrentorte. German marzipan is a big family favorite too, but so are Apfelkuchen, fruit flan, and any kind of German bread. -- Pat, Australia
