How is this once quiet Sicilian town coping with the influx of North African immigrant boats? Rather than tourists, aid workers now fill the area, struggling to cope with the demand while treating the immigrants with the respect they deserve.

Pozzallo on Sicily’s southern coast is normally a sleepy harbor town. But the town is now struggling to cope with the wave of migrants arriving on boats from North Africa. Instead of the usual summer holiday-makers, Pozzallo is full of aid workers and journalists from around the world. Our "Gateway to Europe” takes a look at the daily lives of people who have taken on the challenging task of helping the new arrivals get settled, and ensuring that they are treated with respect.
