Plans to dredge the Elbe anger farmers

bohneApril 26, 2012

Germany's northern states recently approved a deepening of the Elbe River. It will be the ninth time it has been dredged since the early 19th Century. This will free ships with a draught of 14.5 meters to reach Hamburg's port. But farmers and environmental groups are resisting the move.
