Path to "Substantive Dialogue" in Myanmar

November 8, 2007

UN special envoy Ibrahim Gambari has ended his second trip to Myanmar since the regime's brutal crackdown on peaceful pro-democracy protests in September. During his visit, he met members of the junta and also detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi. He says a path to "substantive dialogue" between the junta and the opposition has been paved.
