Palestinian and Israeli negotiators hold talks ahead of a US-brokered Middle East peace conference - je 26.11.2007

The United States is hosting a high-level international conference aimed at reviving momentum in the Middle-east peace process. The three-day conference, being held in Annapolis near the US capital, is bringing together representatives from more than forty countries. Israeli President Ehud Olmert and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas are both attending. Syria and Saudi Arabia are also represented. Analysts have been playing down expectations of any breakthrough at the conference. But there is growing hope that progress could be made over the next year if US President George Bush makes mid-east peace a political priority. +++SYN+++
