Not enough young people in some parts of Germany to fill all traineeships (28.08.2008) je 08

The most recent data on the German economy shows that consumer confidence is plummeting, but figures released today by the German Employment Office show that unemployment is actually dropping. Employment levels for young people are especially high, as more and more companies are taking trainees on for two or three year apprenticeship programmes. In some parts of Germany, there aren't enough young people to fill all the traineeships. In the eastern German city of Leipzig, this is becoming a growing problem.
