Floating slum school

Home to over 15 million people, Lagos has become a major business hub. Investors from all over the world are flocking there to exploit its large oil reserves. Authorities want to use the opportunity to improve the city's image. Top of their list is dealing with the floating Makoko slum.

Over 100,000 people live in the "Venice of the Poor.” In an attempt to prevent the 200 year-old water settlement from being demolished, a Nigerian architect has built a floating school. His aim is to make Makoko more attractive and preserve the livelihoods of the next generation.
