Myanmar Junta Might Open Dialogue With Opposition

October 10, 2007

The US has warned Myanmar it might slap new sanctions on the junta if it doesn't stop its atrocities against its people. The condemnation follows reports that an opposition activist died in custody after being tortured. Meanwhile, the main opposition party has said it has not yet heard from the junta despite the appointment of a moderate general supposed to hold talks with Aung Sang Suu Kyi.
