Melisa KarakuşSeptember 20, 2015

If there's one thing Melisa hates, it's cliches. So she started her own German-Turkish magazine to bridge cultural gaps and add some spice into the rich mix of cultures that coexist peacefully in Germany.

What is currently on your mind? Send us a tweet about your life (140 characters).
I'm always on the go. I'm curious and open-minded. I love eating ice-cream, I'm a strawberry-and-chocolate kind of girl. And I love the sound of snow under my feet.

What are you proud of?
The fact that I manage to learn something new every day

What are you ashamed of?
…whenever you say "goodbye" to someone and then you still end up walking off in the same direction together.

…whenever someone thinks they whispered something in your ear and actually everyone ended up hearing their words.

…whenever you have to stand in line for a long, long time at the grocery store and then you forget your pin number.

…whenever you have to pay for something at a shop, say the local bakery, and you accidentally end up being shortchanged by the clerk and you don't notice your mistake until you've left.

Tell us about an image that will never be erased from your memory.
We get to see so many images every second of our lives now. How can we even begin to remember a single moment that stands out these days? I think our attention span with images is moving along the same lines of Instagram rules: You get to have one memorable picture per day. Yesterday I noticed the beauty of an avocado pit which I had pulled out with a toothpick. And of course I posted it on social media right away.

If you could choose one person to meet, dead or still alive, who would this be and why?
Jessica Walsh, perhaps? She's a young graphic designer who works at Walsh & Sagmeister. I am rather interested in her biography and everyday life. I even ran into her in New York once, but I didn't have the guts to talk to her. :)

How would you express your personal spirit using three Emoticons?

What would have happened if the Berlin Wall had never come down?
I guess that my online magazine (called "renk.") would never have been conceived.

Which song is currently at the very top of your playlist?
"Schönes Wetter Heute" by Ottmar Zittlau
