A question of purity

Germany's beer purity law, which limits beer-making to just four ingredients, dates back to 1516. Now, 500 years on, the art of brewing has come a long way – industrial processes have replaced manual craftsmanship and the raw ingredients are often subject to chemical treatment. Which is why some brewers are calling for a re-evaluation of the entire purity law.
