Lessons of History: Tunisia and the former East German Secret Service

They were spied upon, intimidated and tortured. Just over a year ago, Tunisia’s opposition ousted Zine El Abidine Ben Ali along with the dictator’s repressive institutions. Now Tunisian human rights activists are paying a visit to Berlin to learn about how Germany deals with the legacy of the former East Germany’s Stasi past.
