Large Hadron Collider restarts after 14 months of repairs

Michael BärNovember 21, 2009

After restarting the world's biggest atom smasher on Friday, European scientists hope they're on course to complete a spectacular experiment in particle physics. The Large Hadron collider at the CERN facility in Geneva is warming up, to recreate the conditions immediately after the BIG BANG- on a smaller scale of course - in an attempt to learn more about the origins of the universe. The first attempt last November failed after a technical hitch.
