John Kerry dazzles fellow Democrats

John Kerry has accepted his party's nomination for the Presidency at the close of the Democratic Convention in Boston. He and his running mate, John Edwards will now set out to convince the American electorate to vote for them on November 3rd.

Most elections in the US hinge on the state of the economy. That's how Ronald Reagan won in 1980 and how Bill Clinton won in 1992. But this year is clearly different. Iraq, and the war against terrorism are not only the top issue, to many voters it's the only issue.

John Kerry intends to go head-to-head with George Bush over who is truly qualified to lead the nation into war. As proof, the Democratic nominee was introduced by his close friend Max Cleland, a former Senator and a man who lost three limbs serving in Vietnam

Senator Kerry marched through the crowd before taking to the stage. He wasted no time in explaining why he wants to replace Mr. Bush as the leader of the nation.

The Democratic nominee talked about his own biography. In a clear reference to how important the war in Iraq has become to this election, Mr. Kerry placed a special emphasis on his experiences spent in Vietnam. And while the emphasis was squarely on the future, there was plenty of criticism of George Bush and his Administration.

John Kerry is now George W. Bush’s official opponent. He has about half the nation behind him. Kerry and his running mate, John Edwards, will now begin a mad dash across the country trying to build on the momentum they've gained from their convention and convince undecided voters to join them. On November 3rd they hope to unseat the Republicans and throw President Bush out of office.
