Iran has opened an international conference to discuss whether the massacre of Jews before and during World War II ever happened.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is sponsoring the meeting, has provoked international outrage in the past by describing the Holocaust as a myth and calling for the annihilation of Israel.
