Facial recognition fears in France

France is about to become the first European country to introduce a facial recognition system for some of its online services. Using a new smartphone app, citizens will be able to use the technology to access some 500 government websites from early 2020. Paris says the new system is more secure, but civil rights activists are worried it's a first step towards a surveillance state.
