A new, conservative local government in Madrid got rid of a low-emissions zone,that was introduced in central Madrid by the previous, left-leaning mayor. This has enraged environmentalists, who say the low-emissions zone was an effective way of improving air quality. But now the conflict over Madrid's air quality has gone to the courts.
