India opts for sustainable forestry

India is the world's third-largest CO2 emitter, after China and the USA. The government has decided to put forests at the centre of its plans to mitigate the worst effects of climate change, by encouraging more 'green cover'. In the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh a special program is offering small farmers economic incentives to manage their forests more sustainably.
