How underground fungi networks fuel life on Earth

A tangled web of microscopic tubes weave through the soil, tying roots of trees and plants into networks that span over kilometres and kilometres. Mycorrhizal fungi they're called. And though they're buried down below, the fungi are not immune to what happens above ground. Soil scientists have come together to protect fungal networks. And they’re calling on other earthly citizens to do the same.
