Giving trans youth a shelter in the United States

Anne Hoffman, Washington DCOctober 21, 2015

Homelessness is a big problem for transgender youth in the United States. It's estimated that up to 40 percent of all homeless youth in the US are LGBTQ. And often they don't have any place to go as shelters are usually segregated by gender. That's why Ruby Corado, a trans-woman from El Salvador, recently founded a shelter specifically for queer and trans youth in Washington DC.
