German football federation officials said Wednesday they were investigating possible match-fixing in the second division after suspicious betting patterns. Media reports said Oberhausen connections placed €500,000 ($669,400) with British bookmakers Betfair - a betting exchange rather than traditional bookmaker - on Erzgebirge Aue beating Rot-Weiss Oberhausen, as they did by 2-0. German bookmakers suspended markets in the match after
suspicious patterns emerged. Most of the bets were on a 2-0 win for Aue.
