A German soldier who was part of the NATO-led ISAF security force in Afghanistan has been killed in a car accident. Three other soliders, two of them German, were injured when the car hit a rut and flipped over during a patrol ride some nine kilometers south of the capital, Kabul. The German armed forces, the Bundeswehr, currently has some 2,250 soldiers in Afghanistan, but Defense Minister Peter Struck wants to increase that number to 3,000. A total of 15 German soldiers have lost their lives since being deployed to Afghanistan to form part of the 49-nation ISAF force, which is charged with helping to rebuild the country.
