The global finance market is in tatters as stock markets around the world plunged this week. But one German bank has come up with a way to calm its customers' nerves: scented credit cards.

As millions of spectators around the world continue to sit in awe and confusion as the value of stocks plunges, one of Germany's biggest banks has taken a brave step in these uncertain times.

Commerzbank, whose own shares dropped by about 20 percent this week, worked to reassure its customers that regardless of the current global financial condition, it would continue to take their personal well-being into consideration.

This week the bank launched a range of scented credit cards to appeal to the discerning German's senses.

The bank said Thursday it is offering Visa and MasterCard variants with the scent of coffee, cinnamon, mint or orange.

The bank also is keen to stress that the cards would be visually pleasing, with 44 designs to choose from.
