France calls a summit to address the current financial crisis but can Europe agree on a solution? - je 02.10.2008 18

In response to the US credit crisis - France has announced it's holding a summit of European G-8 heads of government and other economic leaders on Saturday. The announcement comes amid the growing debate and conflicting reports over how Europe should deal with insolvent banks. Germany has turned down calls for a rescue fund like that put forward by the Bush administration, saying Berlin would NOT issue what it calls "blank checks for banks".
