Europe's Princesses

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway is seen here during the opening of a children's film festival in Kristiansand. The princess, born in 1973, has faced some controversy over having a child out of wedlock with a man convicted on drug charges. She was a known face on the rave music scene and worked in a cafe in Oslo before marrying Crown Prince Haakon.

Princess Charlotte Casiraghi is seen here at the International Jumping of Monte Carlo, held in June 2007. The Princess of Monaco, popular with the paparazzi, is Grace Kelly's granddaughter.

Spanish Princess Letizia is seen here leaving the hospital after giving birth to daughter Sofia in May 2007. Formerly a journalist, Letizia is married to Crown Prince Felipe of Borbon, Princess Elena's little brother.

Danish Crown Princess Mary is pictured here at the christening of her daughter Isabella in Fredensborg Palace Church. Mary was born in Australia in 1972 and met her husband, Crown Prince Frederik, in a pub in Sydney during the Olympic Games.

HRH Princess Maxima of the Netherlands is not preparing to cast a spell or attend a funeral, rather she is arriving at a multi-religious meeting on the occasion of the Silver Government Jubilee held at the cathedral in Utrecht.

Princess Madeleine of Sweden has a good reason to smile -- she just turned 25 (in June 2007). Madeleine is an accomplished equestrian and, like many of her fellow princesses, has been active in charity work. She is Princess Victoria's younger sister.

Crown princess Victoria of Sweden celebrated her 30th birthday at the Royal Castle in Stockholm on July 14, 2007. She is currently the only female in Europe to be next in line for a throne.

HRH Infanta Dona Elena de Borbon y Grecia of Spain, born in 1963, is the oldest child of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía. She is pictured here at a gala in New York City.
