European Intelligence Chiefs Talk Terror

Intelligence officials from five major European countries, including Germany, gathered in Madrid on Monday to discuss the recent train bombings and devise a united response to a terror-related threat to the continent. The low key meeting, about which few details were available, included officials from Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. It was one of a number of political responses to the March 11 train bombings, including a summit scheduled this week in Brussels. There, EU leaders will review a series of anti-terror proposals including appointing an anti-terrorism coordinator, establishing a European terrorism database, mandatory national identity cards, and increased security at train stations, airports and other vulnerable targets.
